Crypt of the Metropolitan Cathedral
The Crypt of the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Salvador is the resting place of Monsignor Oscar Arnulfo Romero Galdámez, which is located in the lower part of the parish, where a beautiful bronze monument, 2.5 m long by 1.80 m wide, covers the mortal remains of such a distinguished Salvadoran Christian with its shadow.
ABOUT THE SCULPTURE
The sculptor, engineer Paolo Borghi, created this work of art depicting Saint Oscar Arnulfo Romero sleeping in "the sleep of the just."
At the four corners of the rectangular tombstone are the four evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They are the prophet's guardians until the second coming of the Son of Man.
